Vivaldi with the National String Symphonia

I was asked to speak about guitar concertos for lecture engagements and discussed Vivaldi’s Concerto in D major, rv 93 among other works. During preparation for these talks, I listened to many performances ranging from those produced by Baroque ensembles to modern orchestras. I also collected various arrangements for study and comparison. At nearly the same time, Nora Suggs and Satori were planning their upcoming chamber music season as well as an album in celebration of the chamber group's 20th anniversary. I suggested including this work as I had been spending time studying it and the decision to include this work in their programming was made.

My arrangement and performance of the concerto with string quartet was included on Satori's 2015 CD release, “Celebration.” Soon after working with Satori, I was invited by Maestro David Fanning, musical director of the National String Symphonia, to be a guest soloist with his ensemble. Performing this piece with a larger string group was a unique and beautiful experience.
